Best Practices and Suggested Use

We recommend you contact the owner before you rent. We try to have a friendly marketplace, but to minimize disputes and hurt feelings, send a message, say hi, coordinate before you commit. Everybody wins when we do that.

At the end of the day - this transaction is between two people. We're here to give you a safe place to make that transaction (and find cool stuff). Be kind to each other and respectful of each others time. If you're not available until after 7pm, and it's going to be a multi day rental, maybe don't start the reservation until the next day.

Some other hot tips and tricks:

Do not rent items with sentimental value. We advise against family heirlooms, priceless antiques, or original pieces of artwork. Only rent things which can be replaced or recreated.

Avoid items of extreme value. This is asking for a messy situation as most people cannot afford these items to begin with, so getting them to pay for it will be tough. We suggest implementing your own insurance for any items of greater value.

No real weapons. No real firearms or projectile weapons, explosives etc.

No counterfeit money unless it is printed specifically for film use.

Take photos at every step of the process. Before renting and after return, for both parties. Any damage or imperfection, no matter how minor, should be accounted for.

Take note of all accessories included with an item, including specific packing materials, power cords etc.

Be clear in communication about any time limitations. If the person is renting an item that is already scheduled to be rented right after they return it, make sure they know what time it needs to be back.

Treat all objects with the utmost respect and care, no matter what condition it is in. Some items are special and sought after due to their tattered or aged condition, and if it becomes worse for the wear, it may not be as useful.

Discuss any and all modifications to an item beforehand. Some renters may be OK with repainting or changing an item as long as it comes back in good shape, but you must get that in writing before renting.

Keep items safe. Do not leave your rented items in precarious places where they could be stolen or misplaced. You are responsible for all losses.

Be Safe! Do not use fake weapons or other threatening devices/costumes/masks in public without proper permits and a secured location.

Respect people’s time and energy. It may be hard to coordinate a pickup/drop off, so be patient.

Return items in the same state you found them. CLEAN and safely packed.

Look at every renter/supplier as a potential collaborator. You never know who will be extremely beneficial to your artistic adventures in the future.

Notify the supplier of any wear and tear/defects that occur during your rental. Light bulbs burning out, buttons getting stuck or not working, strings breaking etc. Renters should not be held accountable for inevitable breakage through the intended use.

Use items properly. To avoid damaging rented items, we strongly suggest only using items for their intended use.

Share your art with each other when possible. In most cases, people will love to see how their items are being used.
