In the 2000s, if you were rich you had an iMac. But if you were rich AND WEIRD you had a Sony Vaio. Beautiful weird technology that never stood a chance and yet, seemed cutting edge. Still kinda does. Keyboard folds up but doesn't detach. It's heavy and not a laptop but this was for the cool weirdos of the Bush years.
